DAVID COLBY
David Colby makes photographs to bring joy, beauty, and mystery to himself and others. His subjects are generally landscapes, people, streets, and buildings. His approach fits in the modernist, more realistic tradition of photography. Nevertheless, he sometimes makes impressionistic photographs with a dab of intentional camera motion or with multiple exposures. Although he used a 35mm camera in the 1970s and 1980s, he was a researcher, describing things and people with numbers and words. He started to take the photographic journey seriously around 2014. Now he describes life and the environment with photographs that, hopefully, stir emotions and stimulate ideas without numbers or words.
